Chapter 4. Getting started

This section provides a brief guide on using quick introduction to using Clearboard. More detailed information is available in the .can be accessed user manual starting with from the Application layout section.

The steps for Cleaning a digital photo of your whiteboard, greenboard or blackboard are:

  1. Download your images from your camera to a folder (Eg. My Pictures). Consult your digital camera manual for details on downloading images to your computer.

  2. Click the Open button (the first button) on the toolbar and select one of the images, of your whiteboard. See "Open an image" for details.

  3. Clearboard automatically detects the border of your whiteboard and highlights the border with small red squares at each of the four corners joined by dotted red lines.

  4. (Optional) You can adjust the borders by clicking and dragging the small squares at the corners of the whiteboard.

  5. Click the Clean button on the toolbar to clean your image. A small dialog will popup showing the progress of the cleaning process. It is normal that the progress bar may stop for a few seconds and then start moving again.. Depending on the speed of your processor, it may take somewhere between a few seconds and up to a minute to clean an image. For example, on a PII300 Mhz laptop with 128 Mb, it usually takes around 20-30 seconds to clean a 1024 x 768 pixel image (~2 megapixels)

  6. (Optional) You may wish to undo the clean by clicking the Undo button on the toolbar. You may want to adjust the contrast or the whiteboard borders.

  7. When you are happy with the results, you may choose to save the image, or copy the image to other applications, or print the image. To save an image, simply click the Save icon. To copy an image, click the Edit menu and select Copy. You can then paste the image to other applications such as a word processor. To print the image, just click the Printer icon.
